Pocket Pip: privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
In short: Pocket Pip keeps your Pip on your phone. It has no ads, no accounts and no tracking, and it doesn't collect anything about you or your child by itself. The only things that ever leave the phone are things a grown-up chooses to send.
Who we are
Pocket Pip is a small virtual pet game made by Mikey Law and his son in the United Kingdom. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email pocketpipgame@gmail.com.
What stays on the phone
Everything you do in the game is saved on the phone only: your Pip, its name, coins, the collection book, the diary and settings. We can't see it. Deleting the app deletes it.
The game also uses a few phone features, all on the phone and never sent anywhere:
- Notifications, to say when your Pip needs you (made on the phone, quiet at night).
- Motion and battery level, for little in-game jokes (turning the phone over, a low battery).
- Vibration, which you can switch off in Settings.
What can leave the phone, and only when a grown-up chooses
Anything that sends or shares asks a grown-up a quick sum first.
| Feature | What is sent | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Suggest a line | One short line of text (up to 60 characters) for Pip to say. No name, email or other details are sent. Emails, links, numbers and rude words are blocked. | A Google Form owned by us. Google receives it to run the form. We read the lines and may add good ones to the game. |
| Report a problem | Nothing by itself. It opens your phone's share menu with a report: the game version, the phone model and Android version, the screen size, your Pip's stats and the last few things that happened in the game. | Only where you choose to send it, for example an email to us. If you email it, we get your email address too, and we use it only to reply and fix the problem. |
| Photo booth and Backup | A picture of your Pip, or a backup code. | Only where you choose to share them, using your phone's share menu. |
Children
Pocket Pip is made for children. We don't ask for a child's name (only the Pip's name, which stays on the phone), age, email, location or photos, and we don't show adverts. The grown-up sum keeps sending and sharing in a grown-up's hands. Suggestions are anonymous, so we can't tell who sent one.
Services from other companies
- Google Play delivers the app and its updates. Google's own privacy policy covers that.
- Android backup: if backup is switched on in the phone's settings, Android may save the game to the phone owner's own Google account, so a Pip isn't lost with a phone. This is Android's feature, run by Google; we can't see these backups.
- Google Forms receives suggestions (see above).
How long we keep things
We keep suggested lines while we choose which to use, and delete the rest. We keep problem reports only until the problem is fixed.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold, or ask us to delete it, by emailing pocketpipgame@gmail.com. Because suggestions are anonymous, tell us the words of the line so we can find it. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
